The Custom Advantage: 3 Reasons to Customize Your Equipment

If I mentioned the golden arches, I bet many of you would subconsciously think of McDonald’s. If I said the _______ swoosh, I’m sure you could have fill in the blank with Nike. Or what about that fruit? You know the one. Did you just think about the company Apple? Branding can be a very powerful thing and it has it’s place in sports. What was your high school mascot? Mine was the chargers. It’s been a while since I was in high school, but I still remember it. So, when it comes to your school or facility how can you use this to your advantage? For facilities with a brand here are 3 reasons why you should start to think custom when it comes to equipment.

  1. Home Team Advantage
Imagine you are on the opposing team and everywhere you look you see the home team’s branding. I mean EVERYWHERE. It can be intimidating to an athlete, and they can get in their heads. From the start when sitting under a track shelter with the logo on top. It’s as if the home team is a dark cloud over you. Or what about a steeple chase barrier? Running towards the home team’s mascot having to jump over it. Even if your team does come out on top and you get to stand up on the victory podium, the home team can still have the advantage with a custom podium.
  2. Team Pride
Have you ever seen the classic movie trope when an underdog team is losing the big game, and someone brings in some custom jerseys. The team feels a new sense of pride and goes on to win the game (looking at you Mighty Ducks). It’s all very similar to the home team advantage but in a much more positive way. Take our hurdles for example. Athletes can see their team on the gateboard and gatetube and feel that pride. It can also help them remember it’s not just for them. On one of our recent podcast episodes our guest talked about how after college he didn’t get the same feeling competing when it was just for himself. Some athletes are motivated by elevating their team.
  3. Think Larger Picture
For the coach and athletic director you’ll want to think of the larger picture. When you add custom branding to items in your facility it can really help to make your facility stand out. When it’s been planned out and everything goes together you can really impress everyone who attends/visits/competes there. Think matching high jump and pole vault pits. Even the accompanying standards. All of this is dressing to impress. It could impress potential new recruits.

No matter the reason, our team is fully capable of working with you to plan out your custom needs. The sales team can help you choose the right equipment. The design team can take your branding and apply the artwork. It’s a great way to elevate your facility, allow your athletes to take pride in their team, and years later they’ll still remember their mascot.
